More about
Jessica ....
Hi, I’m Jessica Zuch, a contemporary pianist, vocalist, composer and your guide to an exciting musical adventure. My journey through music has been as colorful and varied as the jazz I love to play and teach.
I grew up moving from place to place, learning from a wide array of piano teachers. Each one brought something unique to the table – some were incredibly inspiring, while others, well, let's just say they showed me how not to teach. Those experiences shaped my approach to music and teaching: it's about connection, not just instruction.
I hold a Master's in Jazz Music Arranging & Composition from UNLV and another in Counselling from Monash University, a dual expertise that uniquely positions me to not only teach music but also to understand and adapt to the psychological needs of my students. My career has been a thrilling ride, from performing in shows like the 'Lion King' in Las Vegas to lighting up jazz festivals and leading vocal ensembles with a spirited flair. For seven years, I imparted knowledge and inspired creativity among students at Capilano University in Canada, developing innovative music programs.
Currently, here in Hong Kong, I am coaching a jazz vocal group at the Fringe and at Pallas Piano Academy, echoing my past role directing at the Haw Par Music Foundation. In my classes, we delve deep into the heart of jazz, from the fundamental techniques to its subtle intricacies. For the younger enthusiasts, my lessons are fun, interactive, and tailored to their unique curiosities. We explore improvisation not just as a musical tool, but as a vital life skill, nurturing adaptability, and presence.
